~ About Alpacas ~
Alpacas are members of the camelid
family. Yes! They are related to llamas and camels. They are
much smaller than llamas, and have been breed for hundreds
of years to improve the quality of their fleece. Now alpaca
fleece is exquisite and highly sought by everyone from fiber
artists to high fashion.
Originally from the high Andean
mountains of Chile and Peru in South America, alpacas were
imported to the U.S. in large numbers in the 1980's. Now they
are recognized by the federal government as livestock.
One of the most adorable livestock
available, alpacas now provide many Americans with a profitable
and enjoyable lifestyle. Come to our farm for a visit to learn
more about raising alpacas.

Getting Started
With Alpacas ~
Want to get started in the alpaca business? We have put together
two starter packages, both under $15,000! Save more than $6,000!
View our alpaca starter packages.
If you don't have a farm yet, you can buy alpacas and board
them until your farm is ready. Once your property is set up
to care for alpacas, they are relatively easy to care for
and eat 1/10th of the food of a horse or cow. You'll need
fencing, shelter, water, and food (hay or pasture and a llama/alpaca
pellet feed), minerals and periodic wormings and vaccinations.
